40 count Yaksha Saree (open for booking)

The world-famous art form, Yakshagana of Badaguthittu, is incomplete without the traditional handloom Kase Saree of Udupi. This stunning weave, distinguished by its vibrant checks of yellow and red , is edged with bold black borders and crafted in 40-count single ply cotton. Traditionally, Yakshagana performers wear Kase Sarees measuring 8.25 meters , featuring a solid cut border technique but no special pattern on the pallu.

Late Smt. Kamaladevi Chattopadhyaya , an ardent admirer of the Kase Saree, received a specially crafted Yaksha Saree from the late National Award-winning weaver Manjunatha Shettigar of Brahmavara Society, which she deeply cherished.

In honor of Kamaladevi Chattopadhyaya, the Craft Council of Karnataka requested Kadike Trust in 2018 to reintroduce the “Yaksha Saree” in a 5.5-meter length . Initially woven at Talipady Society , the saree is now skillfully produced at Shivalli Society by Shree George Ammanna , a master artisan. Additionally, Brahmavara Society continues the tradition of weaving Kase Sarees since many years.
Since 2018, the Yaksha Saree has been among the most admired Udupi sarees , cherished by saree enthusiasts and consistently in high demand.
